Terms of Service

Terms of Service

Effective Date: May 24, 2026

Welcome to smartappliancereview.com. We test connected home appliances. We document the friction of setting them up. You read our findings. These terms dictate the rules of that exchange.

By using this site, you agree to these conditions. If you disagree with our rules, close the browser tab. We operate this platform to share operational reality, not to argue about legal technicalities. Read these terms carefully.

Intellectual Property and Content Ownership

We buy the hardware. We run the cycles. We write the words.

Every photograph of a washer drum, every teardown of a fridge control board, and every written review belongs to us. You cannot scrape our content to train an algorithm. You cannot copy our teardowns for your own blog. We track our intellectual property. We protect it aggressively.

You are welcome to quote short excerpts of our reviews. You must link back to the original article when you do. Do not pass off our months of testing as your own research.

User Comments and Community Standards

We allow comments on our reviews because real user experiences illuminate blind spots in our own testing. Your three-year-old smart dishwasher might develop a pump issue we never saw in our three-month test window. We want to hear about it.

We do not tolerate spam, abusive language, or manufacturer shills. If you work for an appliance brand, disclose your affiliation before defending a product in our comments. We delete comments that add noise instead of signal. We ban users who repeatedly violate these basic standards.

When you post a comment, you grant us the right to display it, edit it for clarity, or remove it entirely. You retain ownership of your words, but you give us the license to host them.

Disclaimer of Warranties: Installation and Repair

We are reviewers. We are not licensed plumbers or certified electricians.

When we explain how we bypassed a faulty water inlet valve on a smart dishwasher, we are documenting our experience. We are not telling you to do it. If you attempt a repair or installation and flood your kitchen, that is your problem. You assume all physical and financial risk when interacting with high-voltage, water-connected appliances.

Always consult a certified professional before altering your home infrastructure. A poorly installed smart washer will cause thousands of dollars in water damage. We accept zero responsibility for your DIY failures.

Disclaimer of Warranties: Software and Firmware

Firmware changes everything.

A smart fridge might boast perfect API response times in our spring testing. By winter, an over-the-air update might break its entire notification system. We publish our findings based on the software version available at the time of testing. We cannot guarantee a manufacturer will not ruin a good product with a bad update.

Manufacturers frequently exaggerate energy savings. We test power draw at the plug. We report our specific numbers. Your local power grid, your home network stability, and your daily usage habits will alter your results. We provide information as a baseline, not a guarantee of future performance.

Affiliate Disclosure and Funding

Testing heavy appliances requires serious capital. We fund our operations through affiliate marketing.

When you click a link on our site and purchase a washing machine, we earn a commission. This financial reality never dictates our editorial stance. We rejected a major brand flagship dishwasher last month because the companion app crashed every time we tried to set a custom cycle. We call out bad engineering. We only link to products that survive our testing protocol.

You carry the weight of a major purchase decision. We respect that weight. We will never recommend a faulty product just to secure a small percentage of the sale.

Limitation of Liability

Smart appliances collect massive amounts of data. They track when you open the fridge door. They monitor your laundry schedule. They ping external servers constantly.

We review the functionality of these machines. We do not audit their network security. If a vulnerability in your connected oven compromises your home Wi-Fi network, we hold zero liability. Your network security is your responsibility. Take your complaints to the appliance manufacturer.

Under no circumstances will smartappliancereview.com be held liable for direct, indirect, or incidental damages arising from your use of this site. This includes property damage, data loss, or wasted money on a product you end up hating. You read our reviews at your own risk. You make your own purchasing decisions.

Governing Law

These terms operate under the laws of our primary operating jurisdiction. Any legal disputes will be handled in our local courts. We prefer to settle disagreements by talking like adults. Reach out to us through our contact page before escalating a minor issue into a legal dispute.

Changes to These Terms

We update these terms when our operational realities change.

We do not send out notifications for minor typo fixes. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when we make material changes to our policies. Your continued use of the site means you accept the new rules. Check this page periodically if you want to stay informed about our legal boundaries.
